The magnetic stirrer rotated element comprises a base disk with holders (2) for retaining solid objects (3) on its upper face (1a), impeller vanes on its lower face, and at least one hole (5) allowing liquid flow through the disk. The holders are slits or depressions in the disk, frames, or clips, and are symmetrically arranged. The stirrer element is of polymeric, metallic, ceramic or glass construction, preferably of dense, high liquid resistance, polymer such as polytetrafluoroethylene, or tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer. The disk also contains at least one embedded magnet able to produce a turning moment by interaction with an external rotated magnetic field. The combination of rotation, inclined impeller vanes, and holes in the disk promote upward flow through the disk. The geometry of the system can be modified to suit the application or the viscosity of the liquid.
