The area of the car door (2) where handle (3) and lock (6) are joined to the inner (4) or outer shell (5) respectively is reinforced by a metal sheet (7), welded to the inner layer (4) and equipped with extensions (9) with insertion openings (11). The door handle (3) is guided through the outer shell (5) and swivel mounted to a lever (8) which is attached to the inner shell (4). Two small sticks (10), protruding from top and bottom of the lever (8), are inserted into the openings (11) in the reinforcement sheet (7) in order to create a stable connection between both door layers (4,5), which is maintained even in the case of an accident.
