Magnesium peroxodisulfate is electrochemically produced by electrolysing an anolyte solution containing 2.5-4.0 mol/l magnesium sulfate in an electrochemical cell separated by cation exchange membranes at 30-70 deg C. The catholyte used is 1-7 molar sulfuric acid.
