Quantified method for testing material plasticity, for shaping in forming machine: drives conically-tipped plunger into sample until surface fissures appear, taking depth of penetration as index of plasticity
A conical punch (1) is forced into the end face of a sample (2) of the material, until fissuring (4) sets in at a surface. Plasticity is characterized from the depth of penetration (t) up to the point of fissuring. An Independent claim is included for a device for implementing the method.
