The wheel is constructed from a base component(3) fabricated in a hollow mould in a pressure die casting process and at least one inlaid section inserted in the cavity before the die casting. The inlaid section forms the rim(2) or hub section. The rim is a cast section with rim flanges(5) and flanks(4), and undercuts(11) are provided in the region facing the wheel axle. The base component and inlaid sections are made from materials with the same coefficients of thermal expansion. An Independent claim is included for a process in which an inlaid section is inserted in the cavity of the mould before casting. An Independent claim is included for a wheel rim in which undercuts are provided in the region facing the wheel axle.
