N-(2-Substituted-5-(benzamidoalkyl)-phenyl)-urea or -thiourea derivatives (I) are new. Benzenesulfonyl-(thio)urea derivatives of formula (I) (including all stereoisomeric forms and their mixtures) and their salt are new. X = O or S; Y = (C(R5)2)n; R1 = phenyl (optionally substituted by one or more of halo, T, OT, S(O)mT, Ph, NH2, OH, NO2, CF3, CN, COOH, CONH2, COOT) and CHO), naphthyl, mono- or bicyclic heteroaryl (containing 1 or 2 of O, S and N as heteroatoms), S(O)mPh, 2-5C alkenyl (optionally monosubstituted by Ph, CN, COOH or COOT) or 2-5C alkynyl (optionally monosubstituted by Ph or T); T = 1-4C alkyl; R2, R5 = H or 1-3C alkyl; R3, R4 = H, halo or OT; m = 0-2; n = 1-4. An Independent claim is included for the preparation of (I).
