The vehicle has a drive which extends the headrest of the seat to a predetermined position when the ignition lock is operated. The predetermined height is the legally prescribed minimum height of the headrest. The headrest can be adjusted back into its neutral position from the operating position at will, and this can be carried out by hand or by operating a switch which activates a drive. The headrest travels into its operating position by an electric motor or by a hydraulic actuator, or by spring force.
