A multicylinder internal combustion engine has a first exhaust turbocharger whose compressor is located in a first induction tract and whose turbine is connected to a first exhaust tract and at least one further turbocharger whose compressor is located in at least one further induction tract and whose turbine is connected to at least one further exhaust tract. The first and further induction tracts as well as the first and further exhaust tracts communicate together upstream of the exhaust turbochargers. At least the turbine (5) of the further exhaust turbochargers is equipped with movable air-deflecting elements. Their openings for the exhaust gas from the first or further exhaust tracts can be closed completely.
