The invention relates to a protective arrangement on a wheel arch of a motor vehicle body-in-white structure, with a crumple zone, in particular a front crumple zone, in which two longitudinal members extend in the vehicle longitudinal direction and along the inside of the associated side wheel arch; with a wheel that is held by wheel guide members within the associated wheel arch; with an end wall that delimits the wheel arch on its side facing away from the crumple zone towards the passenger compartment; and with means for protecting against excessive intrusion of the end wall by the wheel moving against the end wall in the event of a crash, the protective means being arranged between the rolling circumference of the wheel and the end wall. As a means of protecting the end wall from excessive intrusion, a tension strut is fastened to the associated longitudinal member with a fastening section, which has a lateral catching section that projects laterally and transversely to the longitudinal member.
