At least one surface of the separation wall, at least in the contact region between the separation wall and the carrier material is structured so that the contact points form contact with the principal electrode surfaces. The position of the contact region is chosen so that the separation wall contacts both the positive and negative electrodes over large areas. Separation wall for cells in pile or stack form of construction for electrochemical storing of energy, has electrodes which are provided with a carrier material having a regular or irregular structure. At least one surface of the separation wall, at least in the contact region between the separation wall and the carrier material is structured so that the contact points form contact with the principal electrode surfaces. The position of the contact region is chosen so that the separation wall contacts both the positive and negative electrodes over large areas.
