The throttle valve shaft (10,10.1,10.2) comprises two pieces and at least one of the two pieces is joined by plastic deformation with the throttle valve (6). The deformation is produced by the application of ultrasound. The throttle valve for accommodating the at least one shaft piece has a hole (34.1,34.2) and the shaft piece has an introduction area (10.1e, 10.2e) for insertion in the hole. The introduction area has a profile (36) with raised formations and cavities, the raised formations extending radially over the diameter of the hole, with the cavities being located within the diameter of the hole. An Independent claim is also included for a method of fitting a throttle valve into a housing.
