Truck wheel changing process, involving bleeding air springs, fitting locking device, filling air spring, fitting jack and changing wheel

The wheel changing process involves bleeding both air springs (5, 6) of the rigid axle with the defective wheel (2) till the chassis is down on the stops (7, 8, 10, 11). A locking device (14) is fitted on the standard tool and the axle body (9) is secured to the chassis on the side of the defective wheel by the locking device. The air spring opposite to the defective wheel is re-inflated, raising the chassis and axle body on that side. A jack (15) is fitted to the axle body or chassis on the defective-wheel side and the chassis is jacked up for the wheel to be changed.
