The assembly (1) has a balance wheel (2) pivoting about a pivot axis (D), a spring (3) comprising an inner coil (4) fixed to the balance wheel, and outer coil (6) fixed to a stud (7) for maintaining the outer coil at a plate or a cock. The balance wheel has a peripheral surface (20), which is spaced from any point of the spring of a value greater than a predetermined gap (E1) to prevent any change in the characteristics of the spring during a resumption of machining of the balance wheel on the peripheral surface for inertia and/or balancing of the wheel on the assembly. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a clockwork oscillator mechanism (2) a method for inertia or balancing of a balance wheel.
