The method involves arranging a reference point in a linear scanning region of the scanner. The pixel position of the reference point acquired by the image sensor, is fixed as a reference pixel position. Checking is carried for whether an image of the document lies fully within the pixel area of the image sensor, using the reference pixel position. If so, a pixel based on the reference pixel position is defined as the scan starting point, from which the number of pixels is sufficient to left and right to cover the entire document. The scanning process is started. If not, then a pixel is defined within the maximum sensitivity area of the image sensor, as the starting pixel, the scanning process is started.
