A fibrous insert is treated with emulsifiers, wetting and/or coupling agents and formed into a tube with a bonded longitudinal seam which enters a die block in which a cellulose-N-methyl-morpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) solution is applied to enclose and penetrate the tubular insert fibers. After leaving the die the inside of the resulting tubular film (10) is filled with an aqueous NMMO solution (31) and passes into a coagulating bath (11) in which it is diverted before take-off. Steam from the evaporator casing side enters the casing of an absorber (8). Here it is absorbed in concentrated lithium bromide solution, diluting it with heat release. The dilute lithium bromide solution is sent to the generator casing, to be evaporated by stripper steam on the tube side. Here it is re-concentrated. It is returned to the absorber casing. Steam from evaporation of diluted lithium bromide is condensed and then re-supplied to the evaporator casing side. Circulating hot water from the dehydrator vibro sieve (25) is led into the tube side of the absorber, heating it. The heat arises from steam absorption in concentrated lithium bromide in the absorber casing, (the steam having been originally generated from the soft water). Following this, the circulating hot water is returned to the coagulation unit. Preferred features: Evaporator, absorber and generator are constructed with falling-film tube bundles.
