The appts. to wet through bales of fibers, from the paper and cellulose industry, has one or more lances (2) passed into the bales (4) to increase the moisture contents of the baled fiber materials. The lance has at least one channel and at least one outlet opening (7) at the lance shaft. A high pressure feed (6) is attached to the lance head (3). The shaft of the lance (2) has at least one longitudinal notch (10) where one or more outlets (7) open. The tip of the lance (2) is pointed, using a round or oval lance rod structure. The lance (2) is of a wear-resistant material. A mechanism (5) is at the top of the lance (2), to drive it into the interior of the fiber bale (4) as a hydraulic or spindle drive system, and a retainer (9) allows the lance (2) to be withdrawn with the bale (4) held firmly against movement with the lance. The lance (2) can have a spindle structure.
