The operating device has a number of touch control fields (3) positioned behind a non-conductive construction wall, provided by a number of conductive sensor surfaces (2), such as metal foils, enclosed by a conductive sensor ring (1). Each sensor surface is coupled to an electronic evaluation stage (6) via a screened electrical line (5). An Independent claim for a touch control evaluation method is also included.
