Connector has a two-part plug for coupling several parallel optical fibres (4) together in which the fibres are fed individually in grooves between an upper plug part and a lower plug part. Guide pins protrude form the end of the plug with the fibre outlet surfaces. Plug is stepped on one side with two surfaces one behind the other to form a protruding end (9) with the fibre outlet surfaces (5) in the forward surface (6) and guide pins (8) in rearward surface (7). The guide pins sit in guide channels (10) in the plug material, adjacent to and separate from the fibre grooves.
