A fluororubber has calcium hydroxide and magnesium oxide as vulcanization initiators. Immediately after extrusion the temperature is raised above vulcanization temperature to evaporate the water formed by the reaction. The steam acts as a blowing agent to produce foam rubber. The proportions of the initiators are controlled that vulcanization only starts when the entire extrudate has reached the evaporation temperature.
