In the workshop an insulating plate (5) is provided with a vapor barrier (6) on its side facing the room. This barrier is extended onto the edge of plate. A smooth and plane base layer (9) is applied to the vapor barrier. A decorative layer (10) is applied to the base layer. The resultant decorative plate (3) is transported to the installation site and attached to the wall (11) so that adjacent plates are joined vapor-tightly to one another. An Independent claim is also included for the resultant decorative plate,where the vapor barrier is extended onto the plate edges.
