The method involves determining the desired direction of motion (Rsoll) of the vehicle set via the gearbox; determining the current actual direction (Rist) of motion; comparing them; if there is a directional discrepancy, maintaining the movement opposite to the desired direction whereby the speed (Vist) is limited to a maximum value greater than zero. An Independent claim is also included for a control arrangement for a vehicle when almost stationary.
