Laminated waterproof and breathable stretch fabric has bonding and covering layers applied to a textile carrier by a transfer process to give a structured laminate. The laminated fabric structure has a highly biaxial, elastic and texturized fabric carrier (4) in a weight of 30-150 g/m2 and preferably 45-65 g/m2. It is laminated by a transfer process with a bonding layer (2) and a covering layer (1) of a homogenous and compact polyurethane in a coating weight of 35-70 g/m2 and preferably 45-60 g/m2. The bonding strength between the bonding and the textile carrier is 2-12 N/cm and preferably 3-6 N/cm. The carrier fabric is of texturized polyester filaments of high elasticity, such as Trevira (RTM) with extra stretch performance, other texturized natural or synthetic yarns, or a knitted fabric roughened on both sides to give projecting fibers (3). The biaxial elasticity of the fabric is stabilized, preferably by shrink boiling, relaxation and heat fixing. The lamination of the fabric is through 1-4 floating rods with free rotation, laid vertically and loosely on the fabric to be pressed alternately against a rubber blanket by pressure rollers to give the laminating pressures of 0-4 bar, or it is passed through calender rollers. The bonding layer is a normal hydrophilic polyurethane, and preferably an aromatic polyester-polyether-polyurethane, in a bonding layer weight of 15-30 g/m2 and preferably 23-28 g/m2. The bonding layer alone is linked with a resin or mixed with it with a small proportion of isocyanate linking. The cover layer is an aliphatic, dual-modified, hydrophilic, single-component polyurethane in a layer weight of 20-40 g/m2 and preferably 22-27 g/m2. The bonding and/or cover layers are in a watery dispersion with a preferably use of dual-modified and hydrophilic polyurethane. The cover layer can be given an additional steam-permeable finish layer of normal hydrophilic polyurethane from polyester or polyester-polyether types, as an alternative to the dual-modified polyurethane. The total coating weight is 70-g/m2 and preferably does not exceed 55/g/m2. The outer surface, polyurethane covering layer or the finish are of matte or super-matte barrier papers, structured barrier papers or an additional preparation such as a structured textile-look surface through embossing calenders. All or some of the layers are treated with an anti-microbial agent, with an active material concentration of max. 4% of the dry matter, and preferably 1%.
