The excavator vehicle has a load shovel (13) supported at the end of a pivoted arm (3) via at least one intermediate arm (7), forming part of a parallogram linkage and adjusted in dependence on the angular position of the pivoted arm relative to the pivot axis (4), for maintaining the load shovel in a parallel position. The control for adjusting the position of the intermediate arm (7) may employ an angle sensor (16) or a displacement sensor associated with the pivoted arm (3).
