A connection zone or region on an encapsulated, gas- insulated high voltage (HV) installation, in which the edge region of an insulator is clamped between the ring-flanges of two encapsulation sections joined to one another. This edge region has a metallic ring-fitting in which the actual insulating body of the insulator is made of a synthetic resin and has its outer edge region tightly potted, so that a gap is formed between the outer surface of the insulating body and the inner surface of the ring-fitting. The insulating body is provided on each front face of the edge region with an annular groove or slot for receiving a sealing ring. The gap (14) is joined to one of the two gas-spaces (7,8) bordering the insulator (10).
