The shaft (2) of the wheel set is constructed asymmetrically in the longitudinal direction, and has at least one one-sided stiffener. The stiffener may be a thickening extending over approximately a half of the wheel set shaft, or may be formed by shell elements installed on the shaft. The drive force is directed centrally into the stiffened wheel set shaft.
