The linear generator has a magnetisable stator (12) with at least one armature coil for picking up an induced voltage and at least one movable actuator (14) separated from the stator by a working air gap. Permanent magnetic or magnetisable sections (18,32) of the actuator can be moved in a region of the gap, whereby movement of the actuator sections between two poles of the stator forms a working region. Deflection off the sections of the actuator from the working region is prevented by a magnetic force.
