The device (1) has a circular conveying device (3) with two conveying regions (3a, 3b) exactly parallel to one another and two curved conveying regions (3c, 3d) connecting respective ends of the conveying regions. A set of conveying elements (4) runs along the conveying device and conveys a product (7) e.g. pouch, along a part of the conveying device. The conveying elements are guided along a guide-way (6). A linear drive (2) has a pair of linear route sections (2a, 2b) arranged parallel to the conveying regions. An independent claim is also included for a method for transporting a product.
