The pump/motor has a working chamber with volume, which is adjusted by relative adjustment of cylinder housing (5) and rotary piston (4) in a direction radial to the rotary axis of the shaft (3). The cylinder housing has an oval cross section. The unit is used as a rotary piston pump with adjustable volume in a hydraulic transmission unit. It may also be used as a rotary piston motor. The working chamber is formed between two connections (13,14) and is controlled pref. via a flyweight governor dependent upon the RPM of an input shaft.
