Electromagnetic disc brake for vehicle wheels, has friction coating between brake disc and pole surfaces with small movably mounted electromagnets enabling generation of controllable clamping force
The electromagnetic disc brake has at least one electromagnet (11) fixed with respect to the wheel rotation for generating a variable magnetic field, with a magnetic coil (15) and an iron circuit (17) and a brake disc (10) fixed onto the wheel that rotates past plane pole surfaces (18,19) in the iron circuit at a gap distance. A friction coating (12) is arranged between the brake disc and pole surfaces with small movably mounted electromagnets (11) to enable small movements in the wheel axis direction so as to generate a controllable clamping force that presses the brake lining onto the brake disc and pole surfaces.
