A trimmer unit includes scraper cutters (71, 73) laid against the blade, which adapt to its contour (24), to remove contaminants. Preferred features: The trimmer is moved transversely to the cutter motion along the blade contour. Its two trimming arms (66, 68) engage on each side of the cutting edge. They can be moved transversely back and forth. Each cutter has an edge slicing off the contaminants, under spring (64) biasing through a pivoting lever assembly (54). The controller moves the trimmer a short distance beyond the edge of the blade. A linear actuator (48) advances and retracts the trimmer.
