The electrolyte system for an improved-safety Li battery having an Li-containing conductor salt and an electrolyte fluid also contains a partly-fluorinated amide. The partly-fluorinated amide is of formula (I). R1CO-NR2R3 (I) R1 = (a) 1-6C linear alkyl with 1 or more H substituted by F, (b) 3-6C branched alkyl with 1 or more H substituted by F or (c) 3-7C cycloalkyl (optionally substituted by (a) and/or or (b)) with one or more of the cycloalkyl and/or substituent group H atoms replaced by F; R2 and R3 = 1-6C linear alkyl, 3-6C branched alkyl or 3-7C cycloalkyl or R2 and R3 together with the N atom form a saturated 5- or 6-membered N-containing ring or together with 1 or more further N and/or O atoms are bonded to a 4-7-membered ring, the ring optionally having additional N atoms saturated with 1-3C alkyl and optionally also having ring C members carrying 1-3C alkyl.
