The book block spine rounding device is part of a bookbinding machine with book block transporting device. It has rotating rounding elements to take over the book block and release is so that the transporting device in which a rolling out motion acts on both sides of the book block. The book block (1) is held clamped by the rounding elements (3) in a lift motion separate from the rolling out motion to take it to a preselected defined height position.
