The testing head has a series of individual piezoelectric elements (P1-Pn+1), with similar frequency characteristics, coupled to an electronic amplification circuit incorporated in the testing head, with simultaneous transmission and reception of sound waves via at least 2 piezoelectric elements. The signals from each 2 adjacent piezoelectric elements are switched to a common input channel (E1-En), with summation of the signals from the 2 piezoelectric elements for each output channel (A1-An).
