The tiles for cladding a wall, and especially ceramic tiles (1), are fitted with plug and socket mountings for attachment to carriers or a wall sub-structure (15). The tiles (1) are structured at their facing edges with connecting pieces (2) which grip behind neighboring tiles for mounting at the carrier or sub-structure (15), in a plug and socket lock. The connecting pieces (2) are at a corner, to lock four butting tiles (1) together.
