Use of olivine in a hydrothermally produced article comprising silicon dioxide-containing and calcium oxide-containing binder components, to achieve improved refractoriness and heat storage properties is new. Preferred Features: The silicon dioxide-containing component is quartz powder and the weight ratio of the silicon dioxide-containing component to the calcium oxide-containing component is 1:1. Hydrothermal hardening is carried out in a saturated steam atmosphere at 8-12 bar pressure.
