Surface coating production or repair on erosion-prone heating equipment surfaces, by introducing a polycondensable organosilane or organosilicate compound aerosol, is new. Surface finishing of erosion exposed surfaces of installed steel boiler units, air heaters, cyclones and heat exchangers is carried out by introduction of an aerosol of a viscous or pasty polycondensable organosilane or organosilicate compound with the aid of the original gas flow or by means of air or nitrogen. An Independent claim is also included for repair of surface finishes of installed steel boiler units, air heaters, cyclones and heat exchangers by the above process.
