A water drain channel(12) is provided between the windscreen(2) and A-pillar(6), and the fairing(7) of the wiper arm and/or of the wiper blade(5) extends from the A-pillar to the windscreen with the wiper in the neutral position and thereby closing off the drain channel. The outer contour of the A-pillar together with the fairing in the wiper's neutral position forms in cross section a uniformly curved arc which extends up to the windscreen.
