A single stacker plate (1) comprises a composite part made from a steel plate (10) and plastic parts (11,12,12a). It fits in a stacking unit moving all similar stacker plates (1-5) at a variable distance and height. These plates are kept spaced apart from other similar plates in a pick-and-place position with pick-up devices (12,12a) for inserting plates in between adjacent plates.
