The device has an electrically operated drive motor, a transport worm rotatably mounted in a housing and driven by the motor, one or more food inlet openings and several food outlet openings forming a sieve. A container (1) extends away from the inlet opening (3) in the opposite direction to the worm (18) and the inlet opening can be closed by a closure device (11). The food in the container can be pre-pureed in a first working cycle with an electrically operated reduction device (16), preferably a hand stirrer or rod mixer, with the inlet opening closed, before the food is pressed against the sieve (4) with the opening (3) open in a second working cycle and hence reduced further.
