The pushrod is divided in two, so that it consists of one sector on the cam side and another (8) on the tappet side. The sector on the cam side has one end and that on the tappet side has another, each with endpieces (9, 10). The endpieces have couplings (12) by which the sectors can selectively transmit the cam lift to the tappet and partly or completely isolate the cam lift from the tappet.
