Electrochemical writing, using flat character segment electrodes individually connected to a switch unit (8) for individual controlled current supply, is new. Electrochemical writing of various characters, such as letters and numbers, on flat or curved electrically conductive surfaces is carried out by providing all possible character segment elements of the writing as a complete set of flat electrodes in a flat matrix, the electrodes being individually connected to a switch unit (8) for individually controlled supply with current (E) of certain type, voltage, intensity, direction and time.
