The bottle has a base part and a side wall section with a mainly elliptical cross section and a long and a shorter semiaxis. The side wall section has a stand-up part, which defines a standing plane, extending mainly at right angles to a main plane of the bottle defined by a longitudinal bottle axis and the loner semiaxis, and cutting across the longitudinal axis on the sides of the bottle neck. The stand-up part is defined by an elliptical edge bead enclosing a concave surface. When the bottle is standing upright on the standing plane, a projection of the overall center of gravity of a full bottle is located within that surface.
