Overlapping single impulses (41-49) run in a scanning direction (410). The form of the single impulses arises from a contour mask. Surfaces of intensive coloring indicate double, treble, quadruple depths of cut. After a laser cut with a simple contour mask there is an angular upper surface outline (412) along the line (411). After a laser cut with a combined contour/grey scale value mask there is a concave upper surface outline (413).
