The tool turret, for a machine tool, has a turret head (10) which can be rotated in relation to the turret housing (34) and locked in each selected angular position, for the alignment of the tools held in holder openings at the turret head. The locking bolt (40) is operated by a control unit (20), with an obstruction between them especially as a ratchet projection, to reduce the braking action of the brake torque when the turret movement is being braked.
