The variable valve control, for an internal combustion motor, has an axial limit between the camshaft setter and the camshaft with a limit surface for the setter and a second limit surface for the camshaft. A protection (15) is between the limit surfaces (13,14) of the limit (10) to increase the friction value between the limit surfaces (13,14) as a friction layer. The friction layer is applied by flame spraying, high speed flame spraying, arc spraying or plasma spraying.
