A self-calibrating circuit for level conversion of a signal or of a differential pair of signals includes an amplifier (Op.Amp) for receiving the signal or differential signal-pair (Vin-,Vin+) and for outputting a level-adjusted signal to an output inverter (INV1). The average level of the level-adjusted signal matches a given operating level (Vmid) which is dependent on given parameters which influence the properties of the output inverter (INV1). A bias-voltage generator circuit (6-8) supplies a bias voltage (Vbias) to the op,amp with the parameter dependency of the bias voltage corresponding to that of the given operating level (Vmid) of the output inverter (INV1).
