Continuous direct production of methyl chlorosilanes by Mueller-Rochow alternating catalyst method to give increased productivity while retaining selectivity
Continuous direct production of methyl chlorosilanes by contacting chloromethane with a material comprising Si, a Zn promotor and a Cu catalyst is such that the catalyst is: (a) Cu oxide; (b) a mixture of at least 80 wt. % Cu oxide and Cu (I) chloride; (c) Cu (I) chloride; and (d) a mixture of at least 80 wt.% Cu(I) chloride and Cu oxide, with the catalyst being alternated such that (c) or (d) follows (a) or (b) or vice-versa.
