Intake air capacity estimation apparatus for variable moving valve engine which computes actual air capacity based on prevalent valve timing and engine speed in case airflow meter fails

The intake air capacity is controlled by manipulating the valve timing of an electromagnetic inlet valve (5). In case of malfunctioning of airflow meter (13), the actual intake air capacity is computed based on actual valve timing and engine speed. A required valve timing is figured out based on the targeted intake air capacity.
