Inside the water cover (14b) is a dividing wall (50) extending in the direction of the cylinder arrangement in order to divide an inner space (14b) into an outlet side and a main section. The dividing wall is formed integrally with the cylinder head (3). A housing (20) for a thermostat valve is fitted on a cooling water outlet (22). A cooling water inlet (46) in the cylinder head is centrally formed on the opposite side to the outlet (47) and in the direction of the cylinder arrangement. In the dividing wall a hole (52) for venting is provided.
