The cylinder head has a coolant chamber, coolant flow, and a rib-shaped flow guide element at right angles to the flow. Each cylinder section (2) contains at least one intake and two outlet valves with gas channels (4,5). A coolant distribution channel (9) has a coolant intake (8) at the bottom. A side coolant channel (12) leads from the distribution channel between the gas channel (5) of an outlet valve and a screw hole (7) of a cylinder head screw. A central coolant channel (10) passes between the two gas channels of the outlet valves. A third channel (13) leads past a bore in an exhaust manifold fastening to an outlet in the cylinder head base (6). The central channel guides the coolant flow to the rib in the water chamber roof.
